You may not lose your case entirely, but missing your deadline puts you behind the 8 ball.
The problem with missing your deadline has to do with showing the Court that you were otherwise acting in good faith. If you miss the deadline by a day or two, the Court might just look the other way, but be careful. If you are willfully ignoring your Tenant’s request for a deposit refund, and you haven’t responded in a reasonable manner, the court has the authority to hit you with some big time fees.
Even if you are otherwise 100% justified in keeping the deposit, your failure to follow the law might mean you lose this case.
